After two recent scandals concerning UltimateBet and Absolute Poker, the lively discussions about online poker security spread all over the poker forums.
Many players, whose aces were ever cracked, think afterwards, that it must have been a case of a cheat. So how did the penetrators manage it? Recent scandals
A former employee of Absolute Poker got the access to superuser´s account allowing him to see opponents´ whole cards. But the cheater’s extraordinary and a bit too fast wins attracted the attention, investigation started and the cheat was suddenly disclosed.
Soon after, another scandal appeared and this time it was UltimateBet, which got involved. Some of their former employees used special software, which permitted to specified accounts to see other’s hole cards. In addition it was revealed that for three long years the superuser´s account was used for stealing money from regular players.
This kind of scandals can have a fatal impact on the sites reliability and responsible of these two sites are doing their best to get their customers´ faith back. So they are refunding the players, who lost because of the unfair play, new safety features where set up and the company took legal steps against the perpetrators.
You might ask if this kind of fraud can happen anymore and anywhere else. Some of the poker sites, as PokerStars for example, they are using a system, which does not allow their customer service officers to see the players´ hole cards in real time. That means that they can only check the games after a tournament is finished, so it seems that this kind of fraud couldn’t occur there. Who cares about your safety?

There is a huge competition around online poker business and any single cheat can destroy everything. In general, the biggest sites are spending more money for the development of protection features and they’re trying hard to avoid the possible frauds.
