Before the new laws have been established, people were already playing online poker, but it was illegal and without any official protection in case of frauds.  All the companies operating at Italian market must be licensed now, what ensures official customer protection.

Two million Italians had experiences with online poker even before the legal status of online poker have changed and the new wave of its popularity is expected soon.

Till now Italian online poker players spent $881 a year in average, but this number is to rise dramatically, because players don´t have to worry about the penalty of government any more.
